Cellular beams provide the most economical method of producing tapered steel members. Tapered beams are produced by profiling the web along the diagonal, then swinging the to tees around to produce a tapered beam with uniform cells or cells with diameters varying according to the degree of the taper. Tapering the ends of a cellular beam also creates an attractive feature to the exposed overhanging ends.
